Our unique offering of Pilates and Functional Conditioning is a fundamental part of Zen-Strength.
We believe The Pilates Method provides an optimal foundation for zen-strength. Through Pilates we develop focus, control, composure, improved breathing and posture, heightened body awareness and confidence, joint mobility and muscular flexibility, lean muscle tone and endurance, and strength and stability of our core and joints - to name but a few benefits. At Zen-Strength we extend the value of Pilates with a Functional Conditioning ethos.
Functional Conditioning is individualised but largely focuses on functional mobility, strength and power. This type of training improves our balance, stability, coordination and postural endurance. It effectively translates into our static postures whilst standing or sitting, or our dynamic postures whilst walking, climbing stairs or performing a myriad of everyday activities. Combining advanced Pilates and more dynamic Functional Conditioning stimulates and challenges an athlete both physically and psychologically - translating into improved athletic performance.
We consider both Pilates and Functional Conditioning to be key components of general health and fitness, injury prevention, injury rehabilitation and athletic performance, and as such we welcome all ability levels and age groups.
At Zen-Strength we strive to achieve optimal results that leave you energized, confident and strong.
Our clients benefit from a unique training experience - we engage, strengthen, stretch and challenge our clients by incorporating the dynamic instability of spring-loaded Pilates equipment, elastic-loaded stretch cords, gravity-loaded free weights, the suspension trainer, balance pads, foam rollers, bosus and various fitness balls.
In our custom-designed, well-equipped Pilates and Functional Conditioning Studio at Zen-Strength we offer Private Training, Semi-Private Training, and Small-Group Training (3 people). Water and sweat-towels are provided.
We bring a mobile version of Zen-Strength Pilates and Functional Conditioning to the promenade, beach or park, or to your home, hotel room or office space. The size, level and content of these classes are designed with your unique needs in mind. Mixed packages that combine 2 or more Zen-Strength services can be arranged.

We specialise in highly personalised service with the goal of tailoring specific training regimes to suit our client’s individual needs and goals. Whether you prefer training in a boutique studio environment or in the comfort of your own home, we’ll help you achieve your desired results. We have extensive knowledge and experience in postural and muscle imbalance correction, strength conditioning, performance enhancement training, injury prevention, injury rehabilitation, and post rehabilitation.
Kathryn has a BA Sports Science Degree (specialising in Business Management). She is a certified Personal Trainer, Renee Watson Pilates Instructor, CALA Aqua Instructor and Sports Massage Therapist, with 17 years of experience working in the health and fitness industry. Kathryn founded Zen-Strength in 2016, with the intention of helping people explore and develop their innate zen-strength potential. She currently offers Pilates and Functional Conditioning.
Jamie is a certified Personal Trainer, Renee Watson Pilates Instructor, Sports Conditioning Coach and Holistic Massage Therapist, with 19 years of experience working in the health and fitness industry. Jamie joined the Zen-Strength team in 2017 and currently offers Pilates, Functional Conditioning and Therapeutic Massage.
Braeden has an honours degree in Biokinetics. He is also a certified Pilates Instructor and Sports Massage Therapist, with 5 years of experience working in the health and fitness industry. Braeden joined the Zen-Strength team at the beginning of 2021 and currently offers Pilates, Functional Conditioning and Therapeutic Massage.
Michal has an honours degree in Psychology. He is also an authorised meditation teacher in the Shambhala tradition, and a BASI certified Pilates instructor. Michal joined the Zen-Strength team in 2020 and currently offers Pilates and Functional Conditioning.
